The University of Alberta is seeking a supplier for the design and implementation of a chemical treatment program for the condenser water system at its Cooling Plant On Campus (CPOC) in Edmonton. The CPOC includes five 2000-ton high pressure centrifugal R134A chillers and five cooling towers serving a 95 m3 (25,000 US gallon) condenser water system; the operating temperature will not fall below 13.0°C and ambient conditions can reach up to about 40°C. Plant flow for one chiller is 1,330.00 m3/hr and each cooling tower is set at 1,330 m3/hr. A unique feature of the plant is that all cooling towers and chillers are connected through a common header rather than a one-to-one configuration. The campus chilled water distribution includes a main plant (26,000 tons) operating year round, a Thermal Energy Storage System (~5,000 tons), and the CPOC plant (10,000 tons) serving over 80 buildings via roughly 11 km of corridor piping. The University intends an initial two-year contract with options for two additional four-year extensions for a possible total term of ten years.
