Tender: Fish Protection Objectives for CBRH and WH Water Diversions — Bow River, Alberta

A project is seeking a supplier to identify fish species and size targets for protection from entrainment at the CBRH and WH diversions based on modelling the effect of protection on Bow River fish populations. The work includes adapting the Bow River Rainbow Trout cumulative effects JOE model, the Bow River Rainbow Trout population model, and the CBRH fish entrainment model to test multiple fish protection scenarios; developing cumulative effects JOE models for Brown Trout and Mountain Whitefish and testing protection scenarios; evaluating the utility of JOE models to analyze protection from entrainment and determining if alternative modelling (for example CEMPRA) is necessary; if approved, developing CEMPRA models and testing scenarios; describing how reduced entrainment at the CBRH diversion would affect the size and structure of Bow River sport fish populations; and developing fish size and species targets to support provincial fisheries and water management staff.
