Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is seeking a supplier for implementation of cross connection control recommendations at the Beaverlodge Research Farm in Beaverlodge, Alberta to ensure the potable water supply is safe and compliant with applicable codes, guidelines and municipal bylaws. The project implements recommendations from a 2025 cross connection control evaluation and includes installation of approximately 35 backflow prevention devices across 10 buildings — 14 reduced pressure principle assemblies, 3 atmospheric vacuum breakers, 3 air gaps, 1 duel check valve assembly, 9 hose connection vacuum breakers, 3 mixing valves and 1 pressure vacuum breaker — with plumbing rearrangements as required for installation and code compliance. The site will remain fully occupied during construction, requiring phased scheduling and coordination of water shutdowns with site maintenance and research staff; trades staff will need to obtain a reliability status security clearance before working on AAFC property. Bidders must submit Phase One qualifications (for evaluation of bidder experience) and, if successful, will be invited to Phase Two for financial bids; the Contractor must complete the work by March 31, 2027.
