The Forestry Division of Alberta’s Ministry of Forestry and Parks is seeking a contractor to reclaim disturbed forested lands created by wildfire suppression for the Semo Complex (fires HWF061-24 and HWF136-24). Work includes recontouring fireguards, stream and pipeline crossings, helipads and excavated water holes to restore natural landform, using mechanical crews to pull back soil, stumps and woody debris, breaking and laying trees flat (with manual chainsaw slashing where needed), dispersing log decks, and dispersing debris to promote vegetative recovery and soil stabilization. Reclamation must conform to Part 2 of the Forest and Prairie Protection Act, be completed during frozen ground conditions, follow the specifications in the reclamation plan, provide remote staff accommodations, include an on-site foreman reporting bi-weekly with updated digital maps, schedule flights with the contract manager for sign-off and payment instalments, secure applicable land use authorizations and temporary work camp approvals, employ an Alberta Wildfire Certified Dozer Boss/HEGS to oversee daily operations, and consult with local forest companies (Tolko, La Crete Sawmills, Caribou Mountain Forestry) when using preestablished haul roads or operating near active logging.
