The Global Institute for Energy, Minerals & Society (GIEMS) is seeking a qualified proponent to provide specialized technical and engineering expertise to assess the feasibility of a potential nuclear research reactor at the University of Saskatchewan's Saskatoon campus. This RFP (RFP‑A) is one of four independently procured assessment work packages and will evaluate reactor technology and configuration options, preliminary siting considerations, infrastructure and campus integration requirements, regulatory and licensing pathways, safety, fuel and waste management considerations, and technical risks and enabling conditions. Work will be delivered in two phases: first to complete the technical assessment and establish a standardized framework for receiving cost and schedule inputs from the other work packages, and second to review, reconcile, and integrate applicable findings into a comprehensive Class D cost estimate and a high‑level project schedule. Findings will feed into the overall FEL‑1 feasibility assessment and identify conditions, uncertainties, and further analysis needed to consider advancing the project to FEL‑2.
